ETV-AM Provisional Verification
Four technologies performed satisfactorily in the ETV-AM testing program field tests, and BCSIR awarded each respective proponent Provisional Verification. The proponent was then issued a certificate by BCSIR, allowing the sale of the technology in Bangladesh for a period of two years initially and renewed annually since. BCSIR, acting on the advice of the Technical Expert Committee of Bangladesh scientists, decided that full verification could be awarded to the technology proponent after the technology was subjected to a period of technical performance monitoring (now underway as of February, 2008).
The certificate issued to the proponent indicates the deployment conditions for that technology, including where that particular technology can be deployed (including upper limits of certain well water quality parameters, such as concentrations of arsenic, pH, iron, phosphate, silicate and metals),. Before receiving this Certificate, the proponent had to sign a Legal Agreement with BCSIR. This Legal Agreement outlines the proponent's obligations during the provisional verification period.
The end result of successful verification is a verified performance claim, not a verified technology. The technology proponent's claim, which under ideal conditions should be based on field and/or laboratory experimental observations, specifies that in the case of Arsenic Removal Technologies (ARTs) they:
- Can produce arsenic-safe, potable water from arsenic contaminated groundwater that contains known concentrations of As, iron, phosphate, silicate, sulphate (SO42-), and metals.
- Can produce arsenic-safe, potable water from arsenic contaminated groundwater within a certain range of pH.
- The technology can treat X and Y litres of arsenic-safe water in a day (or per batch) and before media replacement (for ARTs that employ sorption media), respectively.
BCSIR then conducts a controlled field test of the technology and analyses the test results to determine if the performance can be verified.
Provisional Verification was awarded by BCSIR to the following technology proponents:
Alcan MAGC, Read-F, Sidko, Sono

First round technology monitoring:
Alcan MAGC, Read-F, Sidko, Sono are being further tested in 2008 in a monitoring stage.
Full verification from BCSIR:
Following a successful technical performance monitoring program conducted under the BETV-SAM Project, the four provisionally verified technologies were awarded full verification in November 2009 by BCSIR
