BETV-SAM Round 1 screening of technologies:
Thirteen candidate arsenic removal technologies (ARTs) were registered through BCSIR for performance verification. None provided sufficient data that was scientifically adequate to verify a performance claim. There was also the need to field test each technology in order to collect adequate scientific data, evaluate technology performance, and verify or reject a technology proponent's claim. The program screened and ranked all ARTs on the basis of available experimental data for arsenic removal ability, ease of operation, ability to operate under different concentrations of influent water quality parameters (arsenic, pH, iron, phosphate, silicate, metals), and other technical requirements. Seven technologies were selected for field testing and performance verification.

BCSIR is responsible for this stage of the process in 2008.
